BIOGRAPHY

Christian de Brer (he/him) holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in conservation of cultural heritage from UCLA and is the head of conservation at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.

His dissertation focused on the provenance and analysis of ancient West Mexican ceramics in the collections of museums and institutions in Mexico and Southern California. He has worked at archaeological sites and regional museums in Peru, Chile, Tunisia, Israel and Mexico. His research examines source community involvement in preservation practices and museum activities.
