Understanding Past Conservation to Determine Current Strategies
Christian de Brer explains that most of the Moche vessels in the Fowler Museum's collection were acquired through donations or auctions and had already undergone conservation before arriving to the museum. Because their treatment histories are largely unknown, current research focuses on understanding past conservation work to better predict future deterioration and develop strategies to minimize damage caused by earlier restoration efforts.
