Critical Fabulation: Theory and Method
Drawing on the work of Saidiya Hartman, critical fabulation examines how history often leaves out untold or undocumented narratives, especially within archives and museum collections. Alana Joy Okonkwo explores critical fabulation as both a theory and a creative research method. Through the lens of the Belongings exhibition at the Fowler Museum, Okonkwo reflects on provenance gaps, missing histories, and how objects can act as archives of memory.
