Syona Puliady is the curator of textiles of the Eastern Hemisphere at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. Her research focuses on the diverse textile histories of the Indian Ocean realm. She works closely with global artists and garment workers to explore how identities and historical memories are woven into contemporary art and sustainable fashion.

Puliady’s recent major curatorial projects include the exhibitions Textiles as Monument, which features contemporary artists reframing historical narratives through fabric, and Visualizing Devotion: Jain Embroidered Shrine Hangings, an installation exploring lavishly embroidered sacred Indian textiles.

Complementing her curatorial work are the accompanying books for these exhibitions. She co-authored the Textiles as Monument exhibition catalog and served as lead editor of the 2025 volume Visualizing Devotion: Jain Embroidered Shrine Hangings, which brings together scholarly research on the role of textiles in religious practice and cultural memory.
