BIOGRAPHY

Solsiré Cusicanqui is a Peruvian archaeologist and postdoctoral fellow at UCLA affiliated with the CMRS Center for Early Global Studies and the Fowler Museum through the project “Race in the Global Past through Native Lenses.” She earned her Ph.D. in anthropology from Harvard University, where she also taught as a College Fellow. With more than 20 years of experience, her community-based, reflexive work brings together archaeology, cultural heritage and collaborative curatorial practice. She works closely with Indigenous artists, descendant communities and knowledge holders to connect the past with contemporary experiences and concerns. At the Fowler Museum, she develops collaborative approaches to researching and interpreting the collections, reconnecting them with communities across Latin America and making the knowledge they embody accessible to university and Los Angeles audiences.
