Azizah Ali is one of the founding board members of Islah Academy and its current principal. Granddaughter of early members of the Nation of Islam in Los Angeles, Azizah was born in Chicago and raised in L.A. While in college in Virginia, she read The Autobiography of Malcolm X, met other Muslim students, and found her own Muslim identity growing and evolving. She became a teacher in the L.A. Unified School District, assuming the role of principal and director of Islah Academy, connected to the Islah LA community.
