A Vital Matters Perspective: An Introduction to Jahsun Edmonds's Academic and Spiritual Practices

An Introduction to Jahsun Edmonds's Academic and Spiritual Practices

Jahsun Edmonds, also known as Oluwo Ifakolade, discusses his two roles in life: the chief priest and founder of Idin Kaa Ifá Temple in South Central Los Angeles; and a professor in the Africana Studies Department at California State University, Dominguez Hills, where he integrates his academic and spiritual practices. Through rituals, teachings, and community outreach, Edmonds works to make African spiritual traditions accessible, while addressing social issues, such as police violence, public health, and systemic inequality.
