Tanya Aguiñiga recounts how she developed the colors for her work Cosas que Sangran during the early period of the COVID-19 pandemic. While sheltering at home, without access to her usual studio materials, she experimented with cochineal dyeing using what she had available. The process was improvised and accidental, and carried out against the backdrop of caring for her child during a tumultuous and uncertain time.
