Models of Ethical Service

Rudolph T. Ware III explains how Sheikh Amadou Bamba and Sheikh Ibra Fall embody the ethics of service central to the Muridiyya Sufi order. Inspired by Anas ibn Malik’s service to the Prophet Muhammad, Bamba sought a life of humility and devotion, ultimately being named Khadim al-Rasul, or Servant of the Messenger. Sheikh Ibra Fall furthered Bamba’s mission through tireless support and labor. Together, their lives emphasize selfless service as the foundation of spiritual practice and community building in West African Islam.
