Interpreting Color, Composition, and Material

Haiti Madi 12 Janvye 2010 uses color, composition, and material to convey a layered narrative of loss, remembrance, and spiritual continuity. The red and blue of the Haitian flag, the purple, black, and white of the Gede spirits, and symbolic elements like skulls, butterflies, and fringe all work together to evoke themes of life, death, and resilience. Kyrah Malika Daniels interprets these artistic choices as a sophisticated visual language that honors both the tragedy of the 2010 earthquake and the enduring strength of Haitian cultural and spiritual traditions.
